I was just wondering what people's thoughts were about what might replace their ID3 when the time comes?
Having experienced the world of VW EVs, would you stick with VW if the right car was available, or has their software implementation put you off? If not, which manufacturer takes your fancy? Are any of them any better on the software side? (maybe putting Tesla to one side for the moment)
Would you even entertain returning to the FF world?
Personally, I do like our ID3, even though it's only a "Life" version. No, the software is not that good, but I have had many less issues than others, judging by this and other forums.
For me, it's size that matters, first. (???) A lot of new EVs seem to be getting bigger, where the ID3 probably is as big a car that I would want.
Just wondering out loud.

I am actually trading in my 2 year old ID3 for a Niro EV which I’m picking up within a couple of weeks.
It’s pretty much the same size as an ID3 besides having a proper ‘nose’.
The main negative of the Niro is a slowish charging speed, but that doesn’t bother me.
It will be an interesting comparison (front wheel drive, one pedal driving, 4 disc brakes, 4 speakers 😛)
Will it be as nice and comfortable to drive as the ID3?

Sold my 1st edition id3 about a month ago , it was a good car and caused me no issues at all . It was always going to be just a stop gap while waiting on my Nissan Aryia 87kw evolve which I’m picking up next week. Not sure I would return to vw but can’t really say why . Probably to many other choices

Test driving an MG4 in a few weeks, as my ID3 is still not built yet It may arrive before if I order one !!
The loss of the Government has really forced our hand and we will probably sell the ID3 as soon as it arrives.
Due to built in November way past the grant cutoff.
The long range MG4 cost £28k and apart from the lack of reverse camera its been getting glowing reviews.

Original delivery date 31/04/2022 now 12/01/2023
Updated build date Wk 50

We weren't planning to replace our ID3 for quite a few years, but I want to get rid my other car in the next year or so as it's approaching 100k miles, and with current prices we can't afford to replace it with anything I would want, so we looking at going to one car. That would mean needing to replace the ID3 with something that has a bigger boot. Planning to have a look at an Enyaq, ID4, EV6, Ioniq 5. Maybe ID5 but a little over budget. I had a look at an Ariya yesterday - it was nicer than I'd expected (very nice inside - I didn't drive it) but the boot is probably not big enough. At the moment, my initial favourite is probably an EV6 if the boot is big enough. Would like an Enyaq coupe if they brought it out in non VRS form (VRS is over budget).

Same here. First and last time I'll deal with these charlatans.
I'd cancel my order if it wasn't for the fact I've waited this long and don't want to be back of another queue with a new car order.

Nissan Ariya would be my choice of new car after the id3.

We are very pleased with our ID3 after 10K miles in just over 12 months, I would certainly buy another one in a couple of years time. We haven't had any problems whatsoever. Not sure why people complain about the software being slow, you can drive the car within a couple of seconds of getting in. The screen takes a few more seconds to boot up but can't see why that's a problem.
The inside space, comfort and ride quality are best in class.

It looks quite good from the reviews I've seen. Not sure about it not having a rear wiper though.

The Renault e-tech Megane looks nice https://www.topgear.com/car-reviews/ren ... h-electric
It's the same platform as the Nissan Ariya and I prefer what Renault have done with it.
There's too many ifs and buts involved in my next car, so I'll thoroughly enjoy my ID.3 (which I'm chuffed with) and see how things unfold.

As trivial as it may be but no rear wiper is a deal breaker for me.

I sold my first edition in July for a profit and am now running an Ioniq5 and have never regretted it once , it's not so dynamic as the vw and its not perfect , what car is, no rear wiper and rear camera too low and in the open but is every bit as economical if not more, I'm getting 4.9 to the kw after 1000 miles and every thing works including the app which is a revelation after the vw ,so after 22 years with vw I've left and won't be going back
First Edition Pro Plus, Moonstone Grey,2.3, sold via motorway 09/07/22 at a profit!!!

It would seem cars with no rear wipers are now becoming more common .

As a Motability customer my choices are skewed and limited by what's available on the scheme and at what price.

For example, an eMokka Ultimate at £200 is tempting, as is the eC4 Shine Plus at £1300. However, the Nissan Ariya Advance at £7400 is out of my league. Trouble is, with all of these cars, how long is the build time? That is what may influence my choice more, availability.

I was quite shocked on the latest electrifying video to find that Tesla's were insurance group 50. Seeing the id3 is 22 and will only cost me £300, are you looking at that as part of your choices?

The Nissan dealer where I looked at an Ariya told me the 87kwh variants were all around 12 months but the 63kwh variants around 6 months. Also went to look at an Enyaq briefly last night... unfortunately reinforced how boring I think it is, but it is practical. Delivery time "12-24 months".

Because I own my car outright I am considering cashing in on the increased value and buy a Golf GTE.

I have fallen badly at the so called "range anxiety" hurdle.

Having a lowly 45kw version the winter range is just not practical.
Recently sold:

Love the car , disappointed in range.

My next car will be an ID3, if VW ever get around to building it!!!!!!

I don't think i will order another VAG car again, their silence and lack of updates, whilst building other VAG cars is shocking.
