Exclusions from Service Plan
I was finally persuaded to take out a service plan for 2 years despite the information about it being inconsistent. The car went in today for its first service and it seems that £75 for brake fluid is not included. VW really know how not to make friends. When I can find an independent specialist garage they'll be getting my custom.

Have now checked my receipt for the plan, for which no acknowledgement ever materialised, and it was £199. With £75 for the brake fluid this is in fact cheaper than the ID deal on the VW website, which is £338. I have absolutely no idea what is going on but at least I don't seem to have been overcharged.

I think the £199 deal is the same deal but at a more reasonable "special" price. I can't see why you would need to pay an extra £75.

Can someone please put my mind at ease over the servicing of my ID.3?
I have had my car from new since March 2022 so it’s coming up to 1 year old. I thought it only needed servicing every 2 years so was expecting it to have its first service next year March 2024. However, my local dealership has emailed to say that the service is due. Who is right- me or the dealership? Are they trying to get money from me for a service that isn’t required yet? Thanks.

You are right. Same happened to me. I don't think it's even as underhand as them consciously trying to fleece you, I get the impression they have automated systems that just prompt them to email all their customers after a year.vanb wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 4:50 am Can someone please put my mind at ease over the servicing of my ID.3?

Mine is coming up to 2 years old, but interestingly in car the Service countdown is still on 400+ days !!
Thanks for all you replies which have saved me a few quid! I got back to the garage and it was an error on their part. Refunded. It makes you wonder how well their systems/ staff training actually work.gwr wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 9:04 am I was finally persuaded to take out a service plan for 2 years despite the information about it being inconsistent. I recently got an e mail from the dealership where i bought the car a year ago saying that the We Connect App had informed them that my car was due for - wait for it- an Oil and Inspection service! When i asked for a screenshot of the message and pointed out that VW state 2yrs and unlimited miles before the first service, they tried to tough it out by saying 2 yrs and 20,000 miles. - I have done 23K . But seriously - an oil service?
I also have this service plan, but nearly got caught out by an 'upsell'.
I had my first service on the plan in December at 2 years old and 46,000 miles.
As has been the practise of my dealer when booking in for software changes, I received an email asking me to book in on line.
I have normally done this with only giving the content a cursory glance.
On this occasion something caught my eye - my 'pre-paid service' included a £150 charge for A/C evac and refill.
I didn't sign in and challenged the service adviser on the day. Apparently this is 'recommended' by VW.
I can't see that it is particularly green to carry out such service activity when there is no proven need .
I requested that they conduct a system pressure check and demonstrate the a need for the A/C service.
This apparently wasn't possible.
So I have decided to wait until the car is 3 years old (post warranty) and have the system pressure checked by an independent.

Completely agree with your post. This upselling of completely unnecessary services is designed to get those people who are less savvy about their cars to pay more than they need to. My elderly mother for example, who is ready to accept the word of the garage that all the work that she had done on her previous service needs doing again, 12 months and 3000 miles later.ColinID3 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 19, 2023 9:47 pm I also have this service plan, but nearly got caught out by an 'upsell'.
