Hi Everyone,
Some may have followed my id issues on another thread but the TL;DR is that my ID3 was recovered to my local dealer last Wednesday (12th April) dead - after a 12v battery failure - following 3-5% HV battery discharge per day when not in use.

Since then my car has not moved from the space it was dumped in. I’ve called twice and yesterday went in - in person.

I felt quite badly handled TBH - but the upshot is they won’t even look/diagnose for quite likely 4-8weeks. Let alone do any work. I complained about this but was on no uncertain terms told I had to wait my turn. This I understand- but not even to plug the car in to get an idea of the issue. I’m very surprised they don’t triage cars for want of a better description.

Second - IF it still has the HV battery drain issue then in another week my HV battery will be at Zero. And sat there for another few weeks. I have tried to communicate this potential issue to them.

I called VW CS yesterday - and they were very conciliatory- but basically rang the dealer - spoke to the same person I did and got the same answer.

So - woes aside (etc..) is there any way I can get this moved on? Does anyone know of any ways to get things going?

I can accept it may take a week- two months to fix if they have to get the right part- it’s a big job etx. But at the moment we simply don’t know!

IIRC you've not had the Tour long, why not go down the return as not fit for purpose route, see if that gets them moving.

I can't answer your question but, if it's gradually draining the HV, does that mean it is maintaining the 12V and therefore still driveable? I appreciate it's non ideal but if you are worried about long term HV damage by letting it sit empty, can you nip in when it's very low, take it home and charge it full then take it back next day? Perhaps even doing this a couple of times if needed? I don't know how convenient it is or what they'll say but I'd like to think they would let you do that to protect the battery if being otherwise unhelpful.

It’s totally dead atm. Won’t even unlock. The 12v battery is totally borked!

Which may of course mean the car has stopped trying to charge the battery. It’s frustrating that I don’t and they don’t even know. I’d be happier if they went and pulled the main fuse to stop everything… but they haven’t.

Re return. It’s 9-10 months old. I think the return as unsuitable route might be tricky (I also like the car!) the seller was a dealer in Morecombe - and it’s in a garage in Stockport. The Manchester dealer did the 2.4 update and battery change 2 months ago. Ish.

I hope you aren’t being treated this shoddily due to the fact that you bought the car elsewhere? I’ve always wondered if dealers won’t pull their finger out to help, if they didn’t sell the car.

If it were me, I would be tempted to contact citizens advice, possibly even the finance company if the car is financed. That shouldn't happen with a car that's sub 12 months old. I'd even be tempted to try and find the head of VW UK and drop them an email.

I have definitely seen this happen. We have 2 local sets of VW dealers in Tyne and Wear - Lookers and Pulman. Go to Lookers with a car they didn't sell you for any warranty work that isn't mechanical and you really are wasting your time, they will either umm and ahh over a stone wall warranty claim (e.g. White worm corrosion on unmarked wheels, door adjustment etc) or tell you it's not a warranty claim when it clearly is. Pulmans will take on the same claim and actively progress it for you. Lookers is 2 miles from me, Pulman is 14 miles away - guess who gets my servicing and warranty work?

I’m kind of at the mercy of where they towed it to (sadly) and all the local Vw dealers are part of the same group (Inchcape). The garage it’s at is apparently their EV centre - and I even rang up to make sure I’d be taking it to the right place. Ironically I have an appointment for the 4th May at a different branch that I booked when the initial errors surfaced. But not sure it’s worth trying to get it there if they are not EV specialists and it ends up being sent back to where it is.

Ugh. At least I’m away for ten days in the coming month…

Is Inchcape Stockport a new official VW EV Specialist centre or self proclaimed? i only mention it as some people who had to have the battery cell recall work that were in the North West had to have the car taken to Exeter (I Think it was) and I remember hoping, as I have a Jan 21 (Manufacture) car, I didn't end up in that boat.
Might explain their workload?

As for dealers that didn't sell the car having issues, I can't say as I have seen it with either dealerships here. I had a bit of a running joke with one about the fact they could never find me the right car so I would end up buying elsewhere, happened for the last 3 cars but they have always picked up servicing and warranty work.
