My Tour has been in for 3 weeks since being towed to the dealer dead. But today I received a call saying it was ready to pick up. Working - checked against the battery recall and…

3.2 installed! So after 4 attempts and a 8 month wait for 2.4 I somehow get this after 3 days 😂

Should think so after having your car for so long, we'll be nipping your head about the 'cough' improvements, hope your battery drain issue is rectified.

Thanks! Yes it didnt get a complimentary clean... bird crap on the front from where it was parked and still had the mechanics seat cover and floor stuff inside.

Just really glad to get it back. Only so many miles I can hack in a Seat Arona...

Great news. We'll be expecting reports of how great 3.2 is now! (And do you have an ESC off button? And do you get those annoying user settings messages that we have so far avoided?) :D

That's great for you. Re the battery check - are they a normal dealer or one of the specialised battery places?

@sidehaas - what’s the ESC button? I’ve mostly skimmed the 3.0 stuff as I wasn’t going to get it for ages (I thought). Not had any settings messages yet - though had to think a bit and scan done qr codes to get a user set up.

@Bengeo for Inchcape in Manchester it’s their main EV centre… they didn’t show me any reports - but I saw the codes for both recalls (battery and SW) had been checked off as done. And they said as much. Didn’t know or tell me what the original issue was - but it has a new 12v battery in it. Perhaps it was just a diff one!

Weekly trip to Hull and back tomorrow so I can report more. But - from 5 min on the M60 the travel assist is much smoother. And the nav is much better than 2.4’s one.

There isnt a button, its the Electronic Stability Control, or traction control, the button if it exists would turn it off, allowing for much more fun

3.0 from factory was supposed to introduce an option to either turn it off or turn it right down. In terms of older cars, a couple of people who had 3.0 done at the dealer during the first OTA wave (because their cars got bricked by the OTA update) subsequently found that their cars had this option, whereas those cars successfully updated OTA didn't get it. I expect the option would be in the vehicle menu somewhere, or possibly assist menu.
The main point apart from having fun is for driving on snow (that was VWs stated reason for introducing it, back when they announced MY22.5).

Well it didn’t like the timed charge from my charger - but I was messing about in the car while it was waiting so it gets the benifit of the doubt for tonight.

WeConnect doesn’t seem to have any more functionality. I thought I could see if it was locked etx..

In for software update on the 15th of this month. Tried to book an appointment for the battery recall as I am one of those affected and was told that the first available slot through in Edinburgh was December. After being put on hold, was then informed that they couldn’t give me a date as VW had just paused/cancelled this update and were unable to give me any more information. Has anyone else been told or heard this?

Suspect this is either BS or VW haven't updated the service site as that is still showing battery check is required on mine.

I'm booked in to Johnson's in Liverpool to do the software update in July. Also booked for the battery recall but they have now advised me that they can't do it and since their own Battery Competence Centre is apparently in Solihull, they told me to rebook the battery recall with a different dealer chain. Which does indeed mean I'll be calling Inchcape. Looks like Inchcape know what they are doing at least!

At the top of the page on the app, to the left of the words “My Volkswagen”, mine shows a locked padlock which I presume indicates the car is locked. It might take a few seconds to appear.

More obviously, if a door or the tailgate is not shut properly, the diagram of the car should show the guilty door open in red and in an open position. Test that?

To get the extra functionality you need to make sure you have weconnect and weconnect plus contracts (getting them via the in-car shop was a step in the process for 3.0 OTA, I don't know how it works with dealer updates). Then you'll need to have enabled all the permissions in both the car user menu and the app. Then for some people it took a few days.

Taa for the tips.

Unfortunately 10 miles into my journey this morning the 12v warning message appeared again 🤦‍♂️ (for context that was why it was in the dealer the first place).

So now it needs to be ‘towed’ back to the dealer again. To be fair the dealers did sound disappointed - and (unfortunately) now recognise my name/car…

I called into my very helpful dealership yesterday and after a good long chat and listening to them read out the info they had received, information that in some cases had arrived that day. We/They concluded

ALL dealers can do the check, but if it fails the car has to go to a Battery centre. (and that could be a long wait). The update is dependant on the Battery Check passing.
However this throws a spanner in the works with regards to the way VW monitors dealerships on recalls. Basically as I listened to their discussions I concluded that under current performance monitoring, if the car goes into a dealership for work, but then leaves with a recall still outstanding it is a mark down against the dealer. Then there is also the impact to the dealers service bookings, the update takes 10hours apparently so the dealer needs the car for 2 days, if they book the car in for 2 days and then it fails the update (assuming they are not a Battery Centre) then, they effectively, lose the booking slots. This may be why some dealers are suggesting it has to go to a Battery Centre?

As a lot of these cars will be (or have already) hit 2 years old I did comment that it would have made sense for the Battery check to be done as part of the 2 year service. (but hindsight .....)

It seems that VW have their comms priorities very badly wrong dealers are receiving update information days after someone has been on Facepalm and told all the customers the updates are out. I can understand that the CS and Social Media accounts are being hammered with demands for info, updates etc. but they are making a rod for their own back with the way they are releasing information.

I agree.
I think in hindsight I will probably just keep the booking I have (in July). The recall is still marked on the car so if by that time they realize they can do the battery check as well as the software update, great. If they can't I'll book it in at a later date. We are happy with how the car is running now so there is no rush really. The poor comms (especially on this battery recall) and lack of knowledge at the dealership is just frustrating.

My local dealers (Telford and Shrewsbury) do not deal with HV battery, so I need to drive an hour to Solihull!

Appointment made for late June, glad I got in when I did because they booked me in for the week, I can imagine appointments will be months in advance very soon.

I just wish my local dealer had listened to me when I phoned on the 28th April, they just dismissed me.

Can I ask which service site are you using to check for 93P7 Splitty? Being told the above, after my dealer told me to contact Edinburgh for an appointment, VW web chat now informs me that “there is no battery recall at this stage” whatever that means. Don’t know where I am with this one.
