Hi,
I have noticed recently that the map display in my ID3 is permanently in night mode when my Android phone is connected. The satellite display works OK (though I do not know how much data this consumes). I have tried changing the control of the display in developer mode on the phone but this makes no difference (whether the day/night settings are controlled by the car or the phone). I don’t think it’s a phone problem as AA works fine in my Yeti. Anyone else have the problem? (Or even better, a solution!)

It’s the same with Apple Maps on CarPlay. I haven’t found a way to fix it

If you change the infotainment from DARK to LIGHT does it then change?
I'm wondering if it goes off this setting.

Are you using Dark Mode on your phone?
Android > Settings > Android Auto then 'Day/Night mode for maps'.
Does this help?
I use the inbuilt satnav which does not use any data and actually personally prefer the mapping and its just as able to deal with traffic, accidents etc,

Auto mode in android auto setting seems to always display dark but setting to day mode should work fine.
