Just taken delivery of my facelift model and the ID light was working or even in the settings. Therefore my dealer had the car for one day and found that the ID light wiring is there along with the ID light strip but there is no electrical connections on the light bar. So they tried a light bar from another car and it works perfectly. They ordered a new light bar from VW and this too had no electrical connections. Not sure if true BTH. Spoke to VW customer service UK and they are telling me that the ID light was discontinued to April this year. Been quoted £500 for one to be fitted. Surely the ID light is an integral part of the car, feel cheated that I was not told about this by the sales team which by the way had no knowledge of this production change by VW.

Has anyone with a facelift model that was built after April got the ID light??

I can't specifically say as my car hasn't arrived yet but if you look at the Interior packs that are available it mentions '30 colour ambient lighting without ID-Light'

I did test drive a car but I can't remember if it had the ID light or not.

I asked my dealer about this today, this was her response:

Yes it will this is a feature that all of the ID products have.

Could be an interesting conversation if it turns up without one.

My first reaction on reading above that the ID light may be discontinued was that it was terrible.
But after reflecting on it I am not sure I would miss it that much. The most useful feature I have found is the turn signal lights when you are using the sat nav, but even that only seemed to work intermittently.
The red light when the car decided there was an obstruction and was stopping me could also be useful, but not essential.
Apart from that I am now thinking it's just a bit of a gimmick. What do you guys think?

Having lived with it for over 2 years - I wouldn't miss it! Passengers (back seat drivers) seem to be interested in it but not me.

Looking out of the window to see the pulsing green bar and confirm charging is occasionally useful.

I like it but would agree, I wouldn't miss it that much. It's an extra rather than something important. The red light when emergency brake assist activates, blue turn signals and green charging light are occasionally useful (in that order of priority for me).

Unfortunately the red emergency brake light is a pain on single track roads (with passing places).
Where I live, most roads are single track; normal practice sees drivers adjusting speed slightly to coincide with an oncoming vehicle at the passing place.
This means neither of us has to stop, simply going around each other. The car, however, does not know this, and puts up the red light.
Thankfully, most of the time, the brakes do not activate. Sometimes I signal to turn into a passing place, but this does not always help in avoiding the red light. It's the approach speed that seems to activate this.
There was one occasion when there was a pedestrian at the edge of a passing place. He was at least six feet from me, and not in my line of travel, but the car did an emergency brake with the red light across the dashboard.
Fortunately I pressed the accelerator and carried on. The pedestrian was non the wiser, as he continued to look at his phone!

Am I correct in thinking the facelift model also doesn't have the reversing camera?

The Launch Edition models all have it as part of the assistance pack I think. If you order a custom base spec from the configurator I'm not sure (if indeed you can - in practice everyone I've seen say they've got a facelift ID3 online has had one of the launch editions I think).

The configurator says that Assistance comes with the reversing camera and Driver Assistance Pack Plus comes with the Area camera, just as before.

Hello, 3 weeks ago the id3 facelift was delivered and the id light does not work. I saw in the parts program that it is mounted, it shows that it is mounted, but it does not work and does not appear in the settings. Do you have a solution to make it functional?

Just taken delivery of my 73 plate ID3 Facelift.
I can also confirm the ID dashboard light does NOT work and is not in the settings menu either.

Plus on a side not my ambient lighting does not go green either, not even in custom colour.

Mine just arrived 73 plate, all the bells and whistles including 30 ambient light and ID light. ID light works fine, but cannot figure out how to access the 30 ambient light upgrade unless it is simply the ability to personalise the colours and brightness. There are various mood options that you can select including one that says individual settings, but I do not know if this is standard or the upgrade? Anybody know? You can see how to access it all on tube, but they don’t state if it’s the 30ambientblights or not!

Interesting that some cars seem to have the ID light working and others don't .
I wonder if this is tied in with some of the option packs such as the 30 ambient light colours which would seem a bit strange ?

It's simply whether there are ten different colours to choose from, or 30.

That’s not the case on the new facelift model. There are ‘ mood’ colour schemes or individual choice. If you click individual choice you do not get a choice of 10 or 30, but 2 ‘spectrums’ you can slide along to vary and mix the colour.

That's just the same as the pre-facelft cars with the pack that gave 30 colours. I haven't counted but assumed there are 30 distinct choices in the spectra.

Anyone able to get the ambient light to green. When scrolling on my individual slider green is not there nor is it one of the themes.

Only a minor issue but I would like it green.

Also every facelift that I've seen apart from mine the 2 lights rear that are on the boot are now actually lights and not reflectors however mine are still reflectors. Feel like I've got stiched up with old parts that they just threw in because they had them spare.

On my 'old' ID3 I have it green (and purple!). It is quite a bit dimmer, the green. Have you tried to up the brightness?? BTW its lovely. :o
