For those on intelligent go or go it's worth a look,at agile particularly if your house is pure electric.
It's completely free for most of today and has been very cheap at around 10-15p per kW for several weeks now for large usable parts of the day with the evening peak for 3 fours being comparable to intelligent. Using octopus compatre app my bill on intelligent go last month would have been around £300 and is £180 including keeping my car charged for around 2000 miles over the month. The app isn't fully accurate as you use electric to take advantage of cheap rates but even so its far cheaper for me than go currently.

It's worth noting that Intelligent prices in the peak period are coming down a bit in April. Standing charges are mostly going up but I think that's common to other tariffs.
We use Tracker which is another good alternative. It's been both cheaper and much less hassle than Intelligent over the last year for us. I suspect the balance will swing towards Intelligent on cost in April, although Tracker is cheap this weekend (12p/kwh all day today).

I agree tracker looks good too, I think the point I was trying to make is that if you use lots of electric during the day intelligent won't be the cheapest option unless you are doing high mieage and charging daily

Thanks for the good idea. As it happens we have solar panels and batteries so use very little during the day, even during the winter as I charge the batteries overnight.

I managed to load shift quite a lot to IOG off peak times - with the old prices averaging 15p kWh on my recent bills.

I'm hanging on to the Tracker tariff. For me, it's hovering around the 18p mark.

Looking at my latest bill it shows how much electricity charged at what tariff and also shows the average price/kWh. Last month it was 7.14 overnight, 28.17 during the day and average for the month 7.34 on 210.8 kWh.

I think if you can use a battery to do all your importing overnight like that, Go/Intelligent obviously make loads of sense
If not it's much more marginal.
Tracker was better than Intelligent for me when Intelligent first started. I was charging overnight (approx 10000 miles per year), running dishwasher and washing machine overnight, and in the winter running an electric oil heater in the cheap period too. However since Intelligent peak price dropped it has got more marginal, and I think after this latest drop it is probably worth me switching back to Intelligent. I'd have thought I could achieve an average price of 15p/kWh or so. Although, that's not much less than Tracker and it's less convenient. You can't revert to Tracker within 9 months of quitting, so need to be confident.

I’ve been thinking of switching from IO to Agile lately too. We use an average of about 12kwh per day when not charging the car so trying to do the maths. Will look into tracker too now you mention it though Sidehaas. We’ve been on the gas tracker since December and saved hundreds in this short period

i used 53KW on sunday including brimming car on sarturday. at a cost of 53p.

if you use electric for other things and dont have a battery to charge cheep overnight then agile or tracker could work out much cheaper than intelligent go.

I have been paying Agile an average of
7p last 7 days
11p last 28 days
and 12.5p last last 3 months

I suspect will be relatively less good when prices rising due to how the standard rates are set

Octopus is one of the suppliers cooperating with the Cooperatives Ripple Energy has set up and is setting up.
E.On is another.

The 4th project is to be a rather large windfarm on the Scottish side of the Border, the third which is the one I have a share in is solar at Derril Water in (North) Devon - almost local - and the first two were windfarms. The Welsh one has been running for a while and people seem happy, the second one is in Scotland and being wired etc now for energisation this summer.

In principle you reduce the cost of as much electricity as your share supplies to the Grid fees, admin and connection costs of getting it to you, and if you don't use that much, the supplier buys it.

Pricing seems to get complicated, I've seen it suggested that recently there has been enough solar and wind power that gas turbine operators have bought some - cheaply - to avoid starting their engines when they would only sell a proportion and for not enough to be worth it. I have no way of testing that for accuracy.

Anyway, this is not investment advice, and if it is I urge you not to follow it, make your own investigations and decisions etc, but there seemed to me to be virtue, and a reasonable chance of a steadying of my electricity costs.

Meanwhile, my ID.3 has picked up 10% charge over the last 3 days from the panels on my roof, almost without the grid, and I'm pleased.

I have stuck with agile and prices are great this weekend as low as. Minus 8p per kW this afternoon so currently charging car with electric central heating on full blast.
