Hey people
Don’t post much as our car is/has been fault free. Topped up to 100% the other day and was getting 256 miles so well pleased.
Anyway, back on topic. Can anything be done after a bird decided to relieve itself on my roof. Tried Autoglym polish to remove but it’s still the same.

Very small amount of T Cut on a clean rag, rub in gentle circular strokes, don't dig into the paint. Then a good quality wax (Turtle or Autoglym).
If that fails, send to a professional detailing shop, for around 50 bucks they can sort.

Thanks. I have emailed a detailing shop and awaiting their reply.Boattrainman wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 1:08 pm Very small amount of T Cut on a clean rag, rub in gentle circular strokes, don't dig into the paint. Then a good quality wax (Turtle or Autoglym).

If it's not been long and the lacquer is ok then hopefully you're good to get it sorted with some detailing stuff. Possibly an Orbital Polisher may be needed.
It looks big in the picture but is that just the perspective? Also, is it the black roof? I hear black roofs are the least favourite colour for detailers. There's loads of resources on https://www.detailingworld.co.uk if you fancy having a look for advice there.

Lacquer has been compromised but need a professional opinion. It has a diy ceramic coating. It’s about 2.5” long maybe and an 1.5” wide.

It's likely that a dual action polisher would fix that. I bought one a few years ago and it's amazing how many scrapes and marks I can make disappear. It might actually be cheaper to buy one than to pay someone to fix it, then you can vanish other things for free!

Thanks but I wouldn’t trust myself. I’m in touch we a detailer. I’d rather leave it to someone who has experience. I have looked into getting one but never gone that extra step. A dual-action polisher is idiot-proof. It's the orbital ones you need to be careful with. Having used a DA polisher with zero knowledge other than watching a single youtube video, I find it hard to imagine how you could damage anything.

Thanks for sharing. You have reminded me to buy Autoglym Bird dropping wipes or spray. It does remove the mess easily and the product can be kept in the car for those emergencies. Good luck with getting your car back to as it was.

I found that DodO Juice “Flies Undone” is brilliant for getting rid of Bird Poo and dead flies. It wont help damaged paint, but it does help get the stuff right off.. THis summer I have had a Fock of Barn swallows in my car port, so bee using this to help dissolve the poo. https://dodojuice.net/products/flies-un ... f1da&_ss=r
I got the AG dropping wipes as a gift and whilst they did the job they didn’t seem like the best value product overall. You only get a few in the box and they aren’t the most eco friendly things being wipes.
